[Mobile Cellphone Info] Huawei P6-U06 and its 6.18mm-thick body purportedly shown off in leaked images

Mobile Cellphone Info has posted a new item, 'Huawei P6-U06 and its 6.18mm-thick
body purportedly shown off in leaked images'

Huawei is no stranger to the super-thin smartphone game, having introduced the
6.68mm-thick Ascend P1 S in early 2012. One Huawei executive teased earlier this
year that his company's got another thin P-series model planned for 2013, and
now it looks like some images of the device in the wild may have made their way
online.
French site Nowhereelse.fr has received a trio of photos showing the Huawei
P6-U06, which is an upcoming handset that measures in at just 6.18mm thick.
While the site says that it can't be certain of the authenticity of the images
because they come from a new source, both it and Engadget point out that the
phone in these images looks fairly similar to the actual P6-U06 that showed up
earlier this month in the database of the TENAA, which is like China's FCC.
Packed inside the Huawei P6-U06's thin frame is a quad-core 1.5GHz processor,
2GB RAM, 4.7-inch 720p display and Android 4.1.2. There are also GSM/WCDMA
radios found inside the P6-U06 that suggest that the phone is destined for a
Chinese launch, which isn't altogether shocking since it's been approved by the
TENAA.
The latest trend in mobile seems to be creating handsets with larger and larger
displays, like the 5.5-inch Galaxy Note II, 6.1-inch Ascend Mate and the
6.3-inch Galaxy Mega. However, there are some manufacturers that are also on a
quest to earn the "world's thinnest smartphone" title, like Huawei and Alcatel.
The P6-U06 appears to be Huawei's latest effort at grabbing the thinness crown,
and so far it looks like a nice handset. Of course, we don't know what it's like
to actually use a phone as thin as the P6-U06, and those of us in the U.S. may
never get the chance to find out. That doesn't mean that we can't appreciate how
crazy-thin a 6.18mm phone is, though. Check out another shot of the P6-U06 below
and a third over at Nowhereelse.fr.
