Moray & Aberdeenshire Forest District covers the National Forest
Estate in north east Scotland. It comprises approximately 58,000
hectares of woodlands ranging from coastal pine forests like Culbin in
the North West through productive upland spruce plantations in the
central and eastern parts of the unit: the iconic pinewoods of Speyside
and Deeside and peri urban WIAT woodlands on the outskirts of Aberdeen
City. The District is silviculturally diverse with a high proportion of
continuous cover forestry and large thinnings programme. There are 44
Forest units covering approximately 150 woodland blocks ranging from
less than 50 hectares to Fetteresso and Clashindarroch each of which is
approximately 6000 hectares. Management prescriptions for
Capercaillie, Salmon rich riparian corridors, Black grouse, Wildcat and
Raptors feature prominently.
The Forest District office including
Grampian Area Operations is based in Huntly but there are a number of
out posted teams. Grampian Operations Area is led by Area Operations
Manager Alastair Young.



The purpose of the job is to work as part of the operations team in
the centre and north of the area, assisting the foresters in the
management and supervisionof FM operations. The post is based at
theHuntly Officeand there is an expectation of independent working,
reporting to theForest Management forester at the Huntly Office.



As Works Supervisor you must have;


Experience inoperations at a practical or supervisory level,
with a sound knowledge of forest operations and health and safety
implementation

Sound IT skills and competency in the use of Microsoft office
(word, excel and outlook)
