The position of Coordinator, Sustainability, in the Food and Agriculture
Division involves working directly with client-specific responsible/sustainable
sourcing programs, the Fair Trade USA and Veriflora certification (including
Certified Greenhouse Farmers) programs, and other programs under development.
The primary responsibility of the Coordinator is managing administrative tasks
related to communications, expense reports, invoices, audit scheduling, trip
planning, report review and application processing. The Coordinator is also
responsible for documentation of all the aforementioned activities on an ongoing
basis in SCS's database.
Roles and Responsibilities
Communications
â Manage daily email and telephone communications in English, Spanish
and/or French and/or Portuguese with:
o auditors based in Latin America, Africa, Asia Pacific;
o clients; and,
o SCS program personnel and contractors.
Audit Planning
â Plan audits and trip itineraries for Sustainability staff and Regional
Auditors.
â Travel booking and logistical arrangements.
Invoicing
â Review all expense reports for Sustainability staff and Regional
Auditors.
â Prepare work orders and invoices for clients.
Operations
â Ensure program compliance with SCS quality system.
â Ongoing maintenance of all new, existing and archived program files in
accordance with SCS' Quality Assurance system.
â Support Associates to develop program guidance updates, audit reports,
and letters as needed.
â Development, translation, and editing of program materials, reports, and
report templates.
â Support Associates to develop training programs and related materials
for third-party auditing organizations.
â Research third-party auditing initiatives and responsible sourcing
programs and prepare summary reports in support of Sustainability staff.
â Additional tasks as requested by the Director and Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
â Bachelors' Degree in a related field
â Minimum of one year of professional experience in relevant applied
social and/or environmental fields, or other applicable work experience.
â Minimum strong proficiency or fluency in Spanish and/or French and/or
Portuguese.
â Overseas work or study experience, applied experience in the cocoa and
coffee industry, and/or applied experience working with agricultural or
manufacturing production systems ideal.
â Excellent writing and communication skills
â Excellent organizational skills
â Initiative and ability to work independently; responsive and adaptive
personality.
â Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Microsoft Word and Excel,
Outlook, Power Point, FileMaker Pro, and Vizio.
â Basic understanding of CSR programs and third-party certification
initiatives.
â Ability to complete time-sensitive projects and to provide realistic
deadlines.
Additional Preferred Skills
â Proficiency in Database Management Systems.
â Preference for candidates with additional applicable language skills.
