Lecturer in Mathematics (non-tenure eligible) -- #130157

The Department of Mathematics at Iowa State University invites applications for
the position of Lecturer (non-tenure eligible) beginning August 16, 2013. The
Lecturer appointment is for three years and is renewable depending on level of
performance and needs of the department. Salary will commensurate with
abilities. The candidate may be eligible for promotion to Senior Lecturer after
three to six years depending on prior experience.


Duties will include teaching two (50%) to four (100%) courses per year, mostly
sections of Math 10, and some departmental service. The candidate will be a
member of the Remedial Mathematics team, which develops and refines courses at
the pre-1xx level to help ISU students develop an excellent understanding of the
mathematics taught in high school algebra courses or in CCSS Mathematics
categories of High School - Number and Quantity, High School - Algebra, and High
School - Functions. Support for teaching one or two courses during the summer is
also possible.


Minimum qualifications include either a masters degree in Mathematics or
Mathematics Education or related subject, and at least five years of
demonstrated teaching excellence. Preference will be given to candidates with a
good understanding of current developments in mathematics education and/or
demonstrated scholarship/service in the teaching of mathematics.
